Community of Practice
As a signatory, we participate in the NSW Public Spaces Charter Community of Practice with the other Charter signatories. This opportunity enables us to contribute a voice and hear from other signatories about how organisations have approached embedding the Charter principles in their work and lessons learnt in the planning, designing, managing and activating public space.
NSW Public Spaces Charter Draft Practitioner’s Guide
The NSW Government have developed a NSW Public Spaces Charter Draft Practitioner’s Guide to support users of the Charter which gives more information and ideas on how to apply the 10 Charter principles when planning, designing, managing and activating public space.
The Western Sydney Health Alliance is currently exploring the opportunity to incorporate the Practitioners Guide into the Health Alliances toolkit for the Western Parkland Councils.

NSW Public Spaces Charter
The NSW Public Spaces Charter supports Future Transport Strategy guiding principles, particularly the principle of ‘Successful Places’, through sustainable activation and public life, quality local scale public space including streets, and active, welcoming neighbourhoods.
The Charter identifies 10 principles for quality public space, developed through evidence-based research and discussions with a diverse range of public space experts, tested with the community and stakeholders, and closely aligned to the UN Charter of Public Space.
The Charter supports everyone in NSW in having access to high-quality public space that allows them to enjoy and participate in public life – so that they can love the place they live.
The Western Sydney Health Alliance is proud to be a signatory to the Charter, and joins the NSW Government in demonstrating a commitment to the 10 principles of the NSW Public Spaces Charter.
