Walking & Cycling Strategy

Walking and Cycling through a Health Lens

The Western Sydney Health Alliance’s aim is to facilitate active commitment and effective collaboration between all members to maximise the health outcomes of the Western Parkland City.

The Western Parkland City Walking and Cycling Strategy is one initiative we are facilitating to help Councils to collaboratively implement their walking and cycling place-based strategies. Through this approach we are aiming to increase walking and cycling opportunities in the Western Parkland City and promote healthy active lifestyles.

This strategy aligns well with The Parks Councils integrated transport framework, strategies and action plans and will assist at the local level with connections and collaboration across the 8 Councils.

A series of online workshops, facilitated by Astrolabe, were held with The Parks Councils, Health Partners, and other major Stakeholders, to gather information and data to gain grassroots input.

The existing Western Parkland Council’s planning documents will also be drawn upon to influence preferred directions and the strategy will include clear priorities and guidelines for future action for the Region and linked to the Western City District Plan.

It is anticipated a white paper on the outcomes will be developed in early 2024 and will guide the development of the Westen Parkland Walking and Cycling Strategy to be released in late 2024.
